Jaw pain could be caused because of numerous factors, These factors are divided into two, namely primary and secondary. Jaw Pain Causes

Jaw pain may occur on one side or both sides, according to its cause. As primary jaw pain is due to conditions directly concerning the jaw, these types of causes produce jaw pain on one side only. Aside from jaw pain, there is additional symptoms, like headaches, clicking or popping sounds in the jaw joint, difficulty in moving the jaw, difficulty in talking or chewing food, difficulty in opening and closing the mouth, grinding of teeth, soreness within the face muscles, etc. The symptoms vary with the cause for the jaw pain. Trauma towards the Jaw

Any kind of trauma to the jaw might cause jaw pain on one side, if the injury is on one side. This  is one of the common types of primary jaw pain. Any of these symptoms is a sign of an impending heart disease. Another life-threatening condition is Osteonecrosis (dead bone) in the jaw, this occurs to patients which are treated with  intravenous bisphosphonate medicines.
