Sore Throat and Ear Pain

| June 9, 2012

Sore throat and ear pain can occur as an interrelated symptom, this is so because the ear, nose and throat are closely related. This often occurs due to bacteria infection or inflammation of the eustachian tube. This tube connects the middle ear to the back of the throat and balances the pressure between the middle ear and external environment. A sore throat can cause swelling or inflammation of the tube which causes the pressure in the middle ear to increase leading to ear pain.
